A Wright County resident died Monday of injuries suffered in a traffic crash that happened at 1:50 p.m. Thursday, 5 miles north of Grovespring in Wright County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Janice D. Rue, 81, Grovespring, was a passenger in a southbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tommy D. Rue, 84, Grovespring, reported Cpl. S.J. Crewse with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs.
Crewse reported the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, then overcorrected, causing the car to overturn.
Dr. James Wycoff pronounced Janice Rue dead at 1:19 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
It was not known if she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The patrol reported Tommy Rue was wearing a seat belt; he suffered minor injuries and was taken by Wright County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, according to the patrol.
The death marked the 14th fatality in the nine-county Troop G area this year, compared to 18 at this time in 2023.
