W.P. City Council authorizes 480K acquisition of real estate

The West Plains City Council held a special session Tuesday, where city councilors authorized the acquisition of real estate at the intersection of Sunset Terrace and Holiday Lane.

City Administrator Sam Anselm said the building would be used as warehouse space for a larger utilities department.

“We have several pieces of equipment and inventory items laying out, around, the City Hall property, exposed to the elements that should be covered,” Anselm said. “Through the acquisition, we will be able to put a lot of that under cover and make room for the rest of the items that we have here at City Hall.”

The West Plains City Council, in a unanimous vote, approved the resolution, authorizing the purchase of real estate at 1602 Sunset Terrace in West Plains for $479,900.

Before the meeting adjourned, Mayor Mike Topliff thanked crews who responded to the fire at the electric substation.

Topliff said, “I just want to point out I got a lot of comments and was contacted about this weekend and how well everybody performed.

“I know the fire department had a really rough 12 hours there; It’s amazing how quickly we were able to get the power restored.

“Good job, and well done.”
