CALLS FOR SERVICE
At 12:59 a.m. on July 1, Officer Corey Clark was dispatched via a 911 dispatch to a noise complaint at a State Route 76 trailer park. Officer Clark made contact with a subject who stated that she had just gotten home, and that when she pulled into her drive she had loud music playing. The subject also smelled of intoxicants and stated that she had been drinking. Officer Clark advised her to keep the noise down and cleared the scene.
At about 5:30 a.m. July 1, Officer Corey Clark was dispatched via 911 dispatch to West Fourth St. for a medical assist concerning a male going unconscious and having seizures in front of a West Fourth St. residence. Officer Clark made contact with a male sitting on the side of the road holding his chest. The man was identified by name and date of birth. Officer Clark then radioed 911 dispatch to send in EMS providers and the scene was secured. Officer Clark then assisted EMS by helping the man into the back of their medical transport vehicle.
At about 7:00 a.m. July 1, Officer Corey Clark was informed that Howell County was being dispatched to Peterbuilt on Hill Street in Willow Springs for a burglar alarm. Upon inspection, Officer Clark was informed by a man at the scene that the alarm must have been set off on accident by a coworker. The man agreed to contact Howell County dispatch about the situation.
At 8:08 a.m. July 1, Dispatcher Annie Glenn was contacted by the manager of Casey’s General Store on West Main St. in Willow Springs and informed that a gentleman with dreadlocks and a large backpack, who had been in the store twice, had been in the bathroom for 45 minutes. The manager believed that the man had stolen the roll of toilet paper from the men’s room when he had been in the first time, and expressed that she would like the man removed from the store. The subject was gone upon arrival, and another subject with a local warrant and Howell County warrants was picked up at that time.
At 1:25 p.m. July 1, Dispatcher Annie Glenn was contacted by a mother whose 16-year-old son had come home from a group home after being gone for one year and was throwing items and punching holes in the walls. Six small children were in the home in a bedroom away from the incident. The mother stated that the son began to hit himself and was screaming and cussing at her. Assistant Chief Wes Ellison requested an ambulance to the residence, and one was dispatched from Cabool.
At 8:22 p.m. July 1, Officer John Thomas was contacted regarding a child well being check in the parking lot of Cattleman’s Steakhouse. Officer Thomas made contact with the manager, who stated nothing further was needed and that she did not believe the child was in any danger.
At about 4 a.m. July 2, Officer Corey Clark noticed the front passenger side door on a vehicle in a driveway of West Fourth St. was opened. Officer Clark did not find anyone in or around the vehicle and then was unsuccessful in making contact with the occupants of the residence. Officer Clark closed the door and notated the event.
At 11:18 a.m. July 2, Animal Control Officer Logan Crane received a complaint from a lady that resides at the Senior Center in Willow Springs stating that a male subject had his dog outside without a leash on it. After receiving the complaint, Officer Crane immediately printed off a paper stating the ordinance pertaining to dogs willingly running at large and went to the man’s residence. Officer Crane discussed the situation with the male subject. Officer Crane stated the ordinance and asked the man if he could keep his dog on a leash from now on when he let it out.
At 2:21 p.m. July 2, Officer John Thomas had received a call from City Hall stating that there were two individuals under the Caboose located at First St. Both individuals were identified, one as a white male and the other a white female. Both parties were advised that it was not legal to consume alcohol while on a city park or city street and were asked to leave the property.
At 7:42 p.m. July 2, Officer David Hocking and Officer John Thomas had received a call from Howell County 911 stating that an older female wearing a long dress shirt was walking down Pine Grove Rd and seemed to be confused and unsure of her location. Contact was made with the female at her residence and she stated that she was just walking.
At 9:14 p.m. July 2, Officer David Hocking and Officer John Thomas had received a call from Howell County 911 stating that there were fireworks being ignited in the area of South Harris. Fireworks were unable to be located.
At 9:59 p.m. July 2, Officer David Hocking and Officer John Thomas had received a call from Howell County 911 stating that a black male was screaming profanity in the Loves Truck Stop parking lot. Contact was made with the black male subject who showed he was having a phone conversation disagreement with another party. The subject was advised to keep his voice a little quieter. No further intervention was needed.
At 10:04 p.m. July 4, Officer Corey Clark was dispatched via 911 dispatch to Casey’s General Store on West Main St. in Willow Springs for a medical call. Officer Clark made contact at Casey’s with a subject that was bleeding on his hands and arms. The subject stated that he had cut his arm on a door when he was leaving West Fourth. Officer Clark then radioed 911 to send EMS to his location. EMS then arrived and transported the subject to OMC hospital in West Plains.
At 1:38 a.m. July 5, Officer Paden Turnbull received a call concerning a suspicious male at Love’s Travel Stop on East Main St. in Willow Springs. Officer Turnbull arrived on the scene and spoke with the caller. The caller stated that, though he does not scare easily, this individual had “put him on edge.” The caller pointed the male out to Officer Turnbull; the subject was inside Love’s. Officer Turnbull went inside and made contact with the subject, who was very nice and polite in speaking. He stated he had come to Love’s to pick up a few things and to see about perhaps getting a ride to Illinois if he ended one. The subject stated that he was staying at Comfort Inn. Officer Turnbull gave the subject a ride to Comfort Inn once he was finished.
At 12:54 p.m. July 5, Assistant Chief Ellison noted that Crossway Fellowship Church on Drew St. in Willow Springs needed Patrol watch for the following three nights. Lumber was being kept in the to across from the church.
At 1:02 p.m. July 5, Officer Jim Hedlesten was advised that Snappy Mart had a drive-off. Officer Hedlesten went to the business and spoke with a clerk at the store. The clerk stated that a female had driven into the station at 12:03 p.m. in what she believed to be a small silver foreign-make Sedan, Mo. registered. The female subject had put $33.03 of gasoline in her vehicle and left westbound on SR76 without paying for the fuel. Officer Hedlesten noted that Snappy Mart had this vehicle on poor quality video and would notify WSPD when a copy was available.
At 8:21 a.m. July 6, Dispatcher Annie Glenn was notified about a wallet dropped off at Willow Post Office on East Main St. in Willow Springs. The wallet was picked up shortly by Officer Paden Turnbull and brought to the police department.
At 8:38 a.m. July 6, Dispatcher Annie Glenn reported a found set of keys from the Booster Field turned in to the police department.
At 9:35 a.m. July 6, Animal Control Officer Logan Crane had received a complaint about dogs barking all day long. Officer Crane went to the residence that had complained to discuss the situation, then went to the residence with the dogs. Officer Crane talked with the owners concerning the registration status of the dogs as well as the noise issue. Officer Crane asked that if the owners would retrieve the paperwork from the veterinarian from whom the dogs had received their shots, turning it in to the Police Department as soon as possible, and register their dogs, a citation would not need to be issued. The son stated that they would attempt to keep the dogs from barking. Officer Crane planned to follow-up with the owners that coming Friday concerning dog registration.
