The big feature at Legit Motor Speedway last Saturday night was the special $1,000-to-win Hobby Stock feature sponsored by Global Steel Buildings of West Plains. Twenty-one cars were in the field for the extra money event, which provided some great entertainment for the fans.

In the end, it was Kendall Prince (#76) of Corning, Ark. taking the checkered flag and making his fourth trip to Victory Lane this season. Prince also sits atop the points standings for the season.

Jesse Shearin (#38) of West Plains finished in second and Will Smart (#26S) of West Plains finished in third. Becky Alford (#99) of Poplar Bluff actually crossed the finish line second but was disqualified in the post race tech inspection for modifications to her Crate engine.

Saturday night was also the first night for the Mega Motorsports Side-By-Side races. Three competitors took to the stage with David Reese of Hughes, Ark. coming away with the first win of the season.

And, in another first, the youngsters hit the newly constructed Go-Kart track for the first Youth Go-Kart Event of the season. It was Dana Barry blazing h

er way to the win in the Go-Kart event and Kolton Stolba winning the Yard Kart event. These events will be added events throughout the season.

In the UMP Late Model Race, it was Austin Rettig (#94) of Sikeston cruising his way to victory lane in a wire-to-wire win. The Wells brothers, Cole (#10) and Justin (#98) of Aurora finished second and third respectively. Kaleb Stolba (#33), last years points champion, leads the points race after Week Five.

In the IMCA Modified feature, Tyson Franks (#F1) from Floral, Ark., took the trophy after racing his way from a seventh row start. Matt Barry (#27B) of West Plains finished in second and Stephen Muilenburg of Sparta took third in the field of 17.

Last years points champion Daryl Hay (#97) of Doniphan is in the points lead.

The Super Stock race sent Landon Clinton (#18) to Victory Lane for the second time this season. Chris Piper (#13) of West Plains finished second and Jason Guffey (#4G) of Viola Arkansas finished in third. That win moves Clinton into second place in the season points race and puts Chris Piper at the top of the points standings after Week Five.

In USRA B-Mod action, Stephen Muilenburg (#39) of Sparta, who finished third in IMCA Modified, took the checkered in the B-Mod feature. Bobby Ratterree (#20) of Mountain Grove finished in second and Rustin Miller (#44) finished in third.

That third place finish puts Miller in the points lead for the season.

The Bone Stock division was added last season and has steadily grown with 12 cars and drivers entered in the event on Saturday night. First to the finish line on this night would be Bailey Harlan (#31) of Pomona, Mo. with his second win of the season. That win puts Harlan in the top 5 in the points. Davey Chaney (#22) of Birch Tree, Mo. finished in second and James Brown (#35) of Mammoth Spring, Ark. finished in third.

This week is the big West Plains Recycling Scrappin’ 50 Super Stock $3,000 to win and USRA B Mod $2,000 to win event. Thursday night is practice night. Friday night is the Super Stock and B-Mod Qualifier plus Bone Stock and IMCA Modified heats and features. Saturday night will feature the Super Stock and B-Mod 50 lap races as well as an added money $2000 to win Late Model feature, all sponsored by West Plains Recyling.

Gates open at 5 p.m. each evening, with hot laps starting at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.
