Judith Lane Newman-Johnson, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at home in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born in Santa Monica, Calif., on Aug. 17, 1936, to Samuel and Edith Shepard.
Judy was an avid reader and life-long learner. She taught all ages from Head Start to college where she retired from Missouri State University-West Plains Campus. She was a true California girl that loved being outside in the sun. She enjoyed bird watching, particularly hummingbirds feeding outside her window, and her flowers, especially the Pansies in her window box.
Survivors: Children: Gary Newman, Cherie Newman, Shawn Newman, Teri Newman; Grandchildren: Jarrod Rasberry, Lauren and Landon Wheat; and sister-in-law, Janice Johnson of West Plains.
Private services will be conducted at Amy Union Cemetery.
