Edward Taber

Funeral services for Edward Lee Taber, 89, West Plains, will be held atm10 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1928, at Birch Tree, and on March 5, 1931, Ed was legally adopted by Ray E. and Mary Elizabeth (Gritton) Taber in Texas County. He left this earth on March 10, 2018, at West Vue Nursing Center.

He attended grade school in the Harlow District of Texas County, graduating from Summersville High School on May 2, 1947. Ed was a Korean Veteran, 2nd Division serving in the United States Army. On Feb. 21, 1953, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Eva May Hall, at Salem, Ark. They had two children, Josephine and Ricky Taber. Eva and Ed lived in multiple states over the course of their married life, returning to West Plains in the late 1980’s.

Ed was always a hard worker, willing to help everyone, working in lumber and driving trucks most of his life. He retired from Amyx Manufacturing. Mr. Taber was a member of Old Tyme Full Gospel Church where he had served as a Deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eva; daughter, Josephine Applegate and husband, Jerry, Raytown, Mo.; son, Rick Taber and wife, Patricia, Rover, Mo.; two grandsons, Jason Taber and wife, Anna and David Taber and wife, Sarah; three step-grandsons, Jeff Applegate, Bryon Applegate and Todd Applegate and their families; one great-granddaughter, Nala Taber; eight step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Boots Callahan, Levita Reimon and Sue Hurt; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Taber, Doris Harrington and Glenda Hall; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Marion (Doad) and Fern Hall, Elmer Tidball; two brothers, Al Ray Taber and Pat Green; sister-in-law, Geneva Henry; and four brothers-in-law, Clarence Henry, George Harrington, Otis Hall and Wayne Hurt.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.
