Bakersfield School will hold screenings for its early childhood programs by appointment April 23 and 24. During those days, students currently enrolled in those programs will not have classes, said officials. Students currently enrolled in Head Start and preschool programs will be screened for preschool and kindergarten, respectively, during school hours.
Parents whose children are not already enrolled in Head Start or Bakersfield preschool should call 417-284-7333 to set an appointment for a screening, which each child will need to attend. School officials remind parents to bring their children’s birth certificates, Social Security cards and shot records to the appointment.
Children who will be 4 on or before July 31 are eligible to enroll in preschool, but are not permitted to ride the school bus until they turn 5, due to school insurance policies. Children who will be 5 on or before July 31 are eligible for kindergarten.
