Bakersfield welcomes baker's dozen to faculty and staff

Bakersfield High School and Middle School students will have new leadership this year in Principal Stephanie Guffey and Assistant Principal Melissa Hayes.

Nine new additions to the high school faculty and staff have been made for the 2023-24 school year, and four more to the elementary team.

At the middle and high school Tresa Lester will teach high school math; Legan Tiller, high school science; Erlene Tackitt, high school special education; Steven Blasdel and Sarah Amburgy, middle school special education; Suzanne Montague, middle school social studies and volleyball coach; Megan Peuppke, RootEd Advisor, mental health and high school science; Michael Mahan, athletic director and coach for girls basketball and golf; Destiny Johnson, middle school English and assistant middle school volleyball coach; Kelby Hutsler, track and cross country coach; and Cainen McGinnis, assistant boys basketball coach and paraprofessional.

New elementary faculty and staff are first grade teacher Jackie Blasdel, fourth grade teacher Jennifer Coffey, special education teacher Moriah Combs and cafeteria worker Davannia Norton.

New student registration was held Tuesday. Anyone who missed that day and who needs to enroll a new student should call 417-284-7333.

Open house for all grades will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17.

Meal prices for this school year are $1.25 for breakfast for all students, and $2.15 for high school lunches or $1.90 for elementary lunches.
