Posted

During their regular session Thursday, Howell County Commissioners are tentatively expected to review and consider bids for two vehicles for the sheriff’s office. Those bids were due by 5 p.m. Monday.

The semiweekly meeting will convene at 10 a.m. in the conference room on the second floor of the Howell County Office Building, 35 Court Square in West Plains. Also on the agenda, accounts payable will be approved and guests will be recognized.

The commission typically meets from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each Monday and Thursday, breaking for an hour during lunch. The public is welcome.

Howell County Commissioners are Ralph Riggs, presiding commissioner; Billy Sexton, southern commissioner; and Calvin Wood, northern commissioner. They are tasked with managing county-owned property including the courthouse, overseeing the county's roads and bridges, preparing the annual budget, approving expenses, applying for and approving state and federal grants for the county, and maintaining an active role in many state and federal programs and committees.
