Eight hurt in recent area crashes

Two were seriously injured when a box truck and van collided head-on at 8:15 p.m. Sunday a half-mile north of Brandsville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tpr. L.C. Pruiett with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported a northbound 2007 Ford E350 driven by Ronald D. Nelson, 72, Houston, crossed the center of the highway, struck a guardrail, returned to the road and struck a southbound 2019 Dodge 2500 driven by Sergo Vacharadze, 55, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Vacharadze was flown by Air Evac to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield and Nelson was taken by South Howell County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, the patrol reported.

Pruiett was assisted at the scene by Msgt. S.L. Nelson, Cpl. J.D. Wheeler, and Tpr. A.K. Falterman.

James R. Stacy, 42, Mtn. Grove, suffered serious injuries when he was thrown from his vehicle at 4:15 p.m. Sunday on Highway 181, 5 miles south of Cabool in Douglas County.

Msgt. C.A. Hogue reported Stacy was driving a northbound 1996 Jeep Cherokee that ran off the road and overturned. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was flown by Air Evac to Cox South for treatment, the report shows.

Hogue was assisted at the scene by Tpr. N.B. Poynter.

Samson T. Parrott, 28, Koshkonong, suffered minor injuries in a rollover crash at 6 a.m. Friday on east U.S. 160, 6 miles west of Alton in Oregon County.

Tpr. T.M. Broyles reported an eastbound 2001 Ford F150 driven by Parrott ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

It wasn't known if Parrott was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and he was transported by Oregon County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, the report shows.

A Jadwin man was hurt in a rollover accident at noon Sunday on KK Highway, 8 miles south of Jadwin in Shannon County.

Tpr. J.J. Smith reported James K. Newkirk, 29, was driving a westbound 2005 Ford 500 that ran off the left side of the road, struck a sign and overturned.

Newkirk was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem.

Smith was assisted at the scene by U.S. National Parks Service rangers.

Lanie M. Kirkman, 24, Summersville, was hurt when her vehicle struck a deer at 6:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 17, 2 miles north of Mtn. View in Howell County, according to Msgt. S.N. Foster.

Kirkman was wearing a seat belt and driving a southbound 2012 Toyota Prius when the collision happened, the patrol reported.

She was taken by private vehicle to Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mtn. View for treatment of minor injuries, the report shows.

Martrez A. Carter, 27, Poplar Bluff, suffered moderate injuries when his vehicle struck a guardrail at 8 a.m. Sunday on east U.S. 60, 5 miles east of Winona in Shannon County.

Tpr. Smith reported Carter was driving a westbound 2007 Ford Mustang when it ran off the left side of the road. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A Texas County resident was hurt in a crash at 2:05 p.m. April 2 on north U.S. 63, 5 miles north of Houston in Texas County.

Cpl. J.R. Sellars reported Margaret L. Beller, 44, was driving a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado that ran off the right side of the road, struck a rock face and overturned.

Beller was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment, the patrol reported.

Sellars was assisted at the scene by the Texas County Sheriff's Department and the Houston Fire Department.
