Extension to offer Spring Pasture Walk at Picking Ranch

Posted

The University of Missouri Extension in Howell County is offering a Spring Pasture Walk at 3 p.m. April 23 at Picking Ranch on AD Highway.

Dr. Sarah Kenyon, MU Extension agronomy specialist, will be discussing pasture weed and forage identification and control. Elizabeth Picking, MU Extension livestock specialist, will discuss and demonstrate how to start rotationally grazing with temporary electric fencing.

Elizabeth and Daniel Picking purchased Picking Ranch in 2020 and have continued to work to improve the small farm which was run down after many years of neglect. They both agree that rotationally grazing and controlling their weeds has drastically improved their pastures in a few short years.

Water will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required, as parking is limited.

For more information or to register call the Howell County Extension Center at 417-256-2391 or go online to extension.missouri.edu/events/spring-pasture-walk.
