Fifteen people hurt in recent crashes

A Cabool resident suffered serious injuries in a rollover accident at 3:27 p.m. Monday on Highway 17, a mile south of U Highway in Laclede County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Stephen Z. Vasques, 22, was driving a southbound 2002 Toyota Corolla that ran off the left side of the road and overturned, according to Tpr. S.J. Hallam with Troop I of the patrol, Rolla.

Hallam eported it was not known if Vasques was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and he was taken by Mercy Ambulance to Cox South Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.

Back in Troop G, headquartered in Willow Springs, three people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision at 2:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 17, 5 miles west of Summersville in Texas County.

Cpl. C.P. Chatman reported a westbound 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by Lucas A. Ethington, 22, Summersville, had stopped to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a westbound 1994 Ford F150 driven by Alyana Rose, 24, Houston.

Arthur L. Ethington, 67, St. Louis, was a passenger in the Toyota and suffered moderate injuries, according to the report.

Minor injuries were reported for each of the drivers, who wore seat belts and were both taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment, according to the patrol.

Barbara K. Niednagel, 77, Thornfield, suffered minor injuries in a rollover crash at 1:30 p.m. Monday on Highway 5, 6 miles south of Ava in Douglas County.

Cpl. D.J. Johnson reported Niednagel was driving a northbound 2006 Honda Odyssey that ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

She was wearing a seat belt and was transported by private vehicle to seek medical treatment, the report shows.

Brennan E. Simers, 18, Mammoth Spring, Ark., was hurt when a vehicle in which he was a passenger crossed the center line on V Highway and overturned.

The crash happened at 3:30 p.m. Monday on V Highway, 3 miles west of Myrtle in Oregon County, according to Tpr. A.K. Falterman.

Simers was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was taken by private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment of minor injuries, the report shows.

The driver, a 16-year-old girl, also from Mammoth Spring and not identified in patrol reports because she is a minor, was also wearing a seat belt, the report shows; no injuries were reported for her.

Three West Plains residents were injured, two of them seriously, in a head-on collision at 12:35 p.m. Friday on Highway 14, 6 miles west of West Plain.

Cpl. J.M. Heimsoth reported a westbound 2004 Ford F150 driven by Andrea M. Spaletto, 42, slid across the center line and struck an eastbound 2002 GMC Yukon driven by Freddie R. Long, 73.

Spaletto and passenger Averi L. Spaletto, 20, were not wearing seat belts, the report shows. Andrea Spaletto suffered serious injuries, Averi Spaletto had moderate injuries, and both were taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, according to the patrol.

Long was wearing a seat belt, suffered serious injuries, and was also taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare Heimsoth reported.

Cpl. D.L. Nash assisted at the scene.

Ruth A. Barnett, 61, Bakersfield, suffered minor injuries when her SUV ran off the left side of Highway 101 and struck an embankment.

The crash happened at 11:30 a.m. Friday about 4 miles south of Caulfield in Ozark County, Sgt. A.R. Johnson reported.

Barnett was wearing a seat belt and was taken by private vehicle to Baxter Health in Mtn. Home, Ark., the report shows.

A 6-year-old Wasola resident was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:35 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 5 and First Street at Gainesville in Ozark County.

Cpl. Johnson reported a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan driven east by Darlene E. Hetrick, 73, failed to yield and struck a northbound 1999 GMC Yukon driven by Whitney K. Maggard, 26, Wasola.

The child, a passenger in Maggard's vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt or secured in a child safety seat at the time of the collision and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, according to the patrol.

It was not known if Maggard was wearing a seat belt, but Hetrick was not, the patrol reported; neither woman was injured.

Norma J. Adkins, 57, Branson, suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle collision at 2:55 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 60, a mile east of Willow Springs.

Tpr. J.J. Smith reported a southbound 2013 Ford Fusion driven by Adkins failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a westbound 2018 Nissan Armada driven by Jackie M. McKinzie, 51, Mtn. View.

Both women were wearing seat belts, and Adkins was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, the report shows.

David D. Fine, 49, Willow Springs, was injured when his pickup truck ran off the road and struck a driveway to a field at 1:15 a.m. Saturday on CC Highway, 5 miles west of West Plains.

Tpr. Falterman reported Fine was driving an eastbound 2010 Ford F150 and wearing a seat belt when the crash happened, and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of minor injuries.

A Houston resident suffered minor injuries when her vehicle ran off the right side of the highway and struck a guardrail.

The accident happened at 6:39 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 63, a mile north of Licking in Texas County, Cpl. J.D. Piccinino reported.

Gwendolyn L. Baker, 53, was reportedly driving a northbound 2003 Dodge Neon and wearing her seat belt when the crash happened.

She was taken by ambulance to TCMH for treatment, according to the patrol.

Robert D. McKinney, 76, Loving, Texas, was injured in a crash at 9:20 p.m. Friday on U.S. 60, a mile west of Cabool in Texas County.

According to Cpl. T.L. Brown, McKinney was driving an eastbound 1999 Pontiac Sunfire when he lost control, the vehicle struck the edge of a bridge, and then ran off the road down a steep ravine.

McKinney was not wearing a seat belt and was transported by Texas County Ambulance to TCMH for treatment of minor injuries.
