Five hurt in weekend crashes

A West Plains man suffered serious injuries when the four-wheeler he was driving rolled onto him, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Tpr. L.C. Pruiett, Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported Daniel E. Wright, 64, was hurt at 4:40 p.m. Friday on County Road 7070, 6 miles north of South Fork.

It wasn't known the direction of travel or whether Wright was wearing a helmet, but the report shows he was flown to Cox South Medical Center

in Springfield for treatment. Pruiett was assisted at the scene by Msgt. T.W. Meyer and Tpr. A.K. Falterman.

Dominick A. Sanchez, 20, Myrtle, was hurt in a rollover crash at 1:55 p.m. Sunday on Highway 142 at County Road 263, 2 miles west of Myrtle in Oregon County.

Msgt. Meyer reported a westbound 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Sanchez ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected and overturned.

Sanchez was wearing a seat belt and was transported by Oregon County Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment of moderate injuries, the report shows.

Kayley J. Swartz, 18, Gainesville, suffered moderate injuries in a crash at 6:35 p.m. Saturday on J Highway, 2 miles west of Hardenville in Ozark County.

Tpr. K.L. Hogan reported Swartz was driving a northbound 2004 Oldsmobile Alero that ran off the right side of the road, struck a tree and overturned.

She was wearing a seat belt and was transported by Ozark County Ambulance to Baxter Health in Mtn. Home, Ark., for treatment, the report shows.

A driver who reportedly crossed the center line in his vehicle to intentionally strike another vehicle head-on caused minor injuries to another driver at 6:11 p.m. Friday on Turley Road, 5 miles west of Success in Texas County.

Tpr. N.B. Poynter reported Stanley W. Smith, 53, Laquey, was the driver of a northbound 1992 Ford F250 that struck a southbound 2023 Ford Explorer driven by Jeremy J. Wink, 24, Houston.

Wink was reportedly wearing a seat belt and was taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment, according to the patrol.

Poynter reported it wasn't known if Smith was wearing a seat belt, and the patrolman was assisted at the scene by Cpl. S.J. Crewse and Tpr. J.L. Sentman.

John C. Casey, 73, Houston, was injured in a crash at 3:54 p.m. Friday on north U.S. 63, 3 miles north of Cabool in Texas County.

Tpr. Z.B. Tate reported Casey was driving a northbound 2001 Lincoln Town Car that ran off the right side of the road, returned, ran off the left side of the road, hit a small embankment and began to roll.

Casey was wearing a seat belt and was transported to TCMH for treatment of minor injuries, the report shows.
