Martie Bennett Spraggins, 71, of West Plains, Mo, passed away of lung cancer on July 18 th , 2021. She was born to parents Raymond and Melissa Bennett, on December 4, 1949 in Mattoon, Illinois.
She graduated from Washington High School in San Francisco in 1969.
She went on to study Psychology at Humboldt State University and graduated with Bachelor of Science.
She lived a life of service. She ran a daycare, homeless shelters, worked with the disabled and mentality ill, she was a foster mom to over 100 children in her 11 years of fostering, lastly she worked at the MSU test center doing her best to ease testers nerves and celebrate their triumph and encourage them to keep trying.
Martie met Jake Spraggins in 1967. They were married on Aug. 7 1971 in Oakland, Ca. Together they raised children: Nate Spraggins, Jessica El Aboudi, Blaine Spraggins, Megan Venkat, Melissa Burke, Alisha Rodriguez, Leo Spraggins, Jacob Spraggins, Zackary Spraggins and so many foster and acquired kids.
Martie is survived by her children, grandchildren, one great grandchild, her husband, two sisters and many nieces, nephews and cousins. \
She was preceded in death by Her Parents, brother Willie, a sister Margie, niece Lori, nephew Keith, and honorary great granddaughter GraceLynn .
Her celebration of life will be held on Aug. 4 th 2021 at 4:30 at the Historic Post Office Event Center in West Plains Mo. All are welcome to this potluck celebration to share food, loving stories and memories of Martie.
