Missouri Democratic Party's presidential primary is March 23

Posted

The Missouri Democratic Party (MDP) is accepting requests for mail-in ballots to vote in the presidential primary election scheduled on March 23. Registered Missouri voters can request a ballot online by March 12 at request.mrgvote.com/Missouri, or call 855-433-8683.

Additionally, the Missouri Democratic Party announced the Democratic National Committee has fully approved MDP’s plan for Missouri’s 2024 Democratic Presidential Primary.

Missouri’s Democratic presidential primary will be a hybrid election, offering Missouri Democrats an opportunity to cast their votes by mail or at an in-person voting site from 8 a.m. until noon on the day of the primary. Pending final availability, at least one in-person voting site will be held in each county, with additional sites in larger counties, said party officials.

Area voting locations confirmed to date are the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St., for Howell County; the Texas County Administrative Building, 210 Grand Ave. in Houston for Texas County; Hartville Free Baptist Church, 5658 Z Highway for Wright County; and Oregon County Courthouse, 1 Court Square in Alton, for Oregon County.

Missourians who were officially registered to vote by Feb. 21 are eligible to vote in the Missouri Democratic presidential preference primary election, so long as the voter is not registered as a Republican, party officials note.
Mail-in ballots must be returned to the Missouri Democratic Party by 10 a.m. March 23. Votes will be counted by March 25, with the announcement to be made by March 28, officials added.

Missouri Republicans held presidential preference caucuses on Saturday, with former President Donald Trump claiming the state party’s nomination, reported the Associated Press.

The difference in procedures follows a a change signed into law in 2022 by Gov. Mike Parson to eliminate the state-run presidential preference primary election in favor of a party-run system to choose presidential nominees in Missouri.
