Kyle Williams, 32, Lebanon, was ticketed at 6:43 p.m. Jan. 13 on a seat belt violation charge. Officer Kylie McGee.

Trevor Mansker, 21, Gainesville, was ticketed at 8:28 p.m. Jan. 13 on a charge of failure to show proof of insurance. Officer Kaleb Berkshire.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Officer Israel Guidry assisted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop on Jan. 12.

On Jan. 12, Officer McGee checked on a man sitting on the corner of Y Highway and the Walmart parking lot. The man said he was cold, and was given a courtesy ride to Malone’s Motel.

Officer McGee gave a courtesy ride on Jan. 12 to a woman needing to get back to her husband and out of the cold.

On Jan. 13, Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien was dispatched to Angelica Street for an issue concerning a 15-year-old girl. He spoke with the reporting party, who said the girl would not clean her room or give up her cell phone. He spoke to the girl who agreed to give up the phone, clean her room and listen to her legal guardian.

Officer McGee was advised on Jan. 13 of a recklessly-driving vehicle headed east on U.S. 60 from Willow Springs toward Mtn. View, described as a white Pontiac G6. She was not able to locate the vehicle.

On Jan. 13, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to the Mtn. View Youth Center, where an employee said a vehicle was blocking another in the parking lot and the owner was unknown. When Schwien arrived, the employee advised the owner had been found and the vehicle moved.

Lt. Trenton Roberts was dispatched on Jan. 13 to East Third Street for a youth matter. The issue was resolved.

On Jan. 13, Lt. Roberts spoke with a landlord having an issue with a tenant. The issue was logged as a civil matter.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched at Jan. 13 to West Second Street for a civil matter and advised the reporting party to take the issue to civil court.

On Jan. 13, Assistant Chief Schwien conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without a license plate and brake light. The drive was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.

Officer Kris Reinholdt responded to an alarm call on Jan. 14. The key holder arrived on scene and the building was checked and secured.

On Jan. 14, Lt. Roberts provided information to a landlord with questions regarding an ongoing issue with a tenant.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched on Jan. 14 to West Second Street for a landlord-tenant issue. Information was provided.

On Jan. 14, Lt. Roberts was flagged down by a man walking in the snow who asked for a ride to some nearby apartments. He gave the man a ride.

Officer Alexis Johnson stopped on Jan. 15 to assist a driver whose vehicle slid off the road. The driver said he was fine and did not need help.

On Jan. 15, Officer McGee checked on a man who was sitting in the middle of Veterans Park next to a kiddie pool. She asked if everything was OK and the man said he was sledding.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched on Jan. 15 to West Fourth Street to check on a woman who was not answering the phone. He was unable to make contact with her.

On Jan. 15, Lt. Roberts was dispatched to Walmart to talk to a woman allegedly yelling at a child. He was not able to talk to her.

Lt. Roberts was contacted on Jan. 15 by a woman asking for information about getting a drug test for a family member she had concerns about. Information was given.

On Jan. 15, Officer Guidry responded to request for an area check. He spoke to the caller who told him she’d heard screams coming from nearby and pointed in that direction. He drove through the area, did not hear any screams, but did see tire tracks in the snow belonging to a vehicle apparently swerving and doing donuts.

A man and woman went to the police station on Jan. 15 to ask for information about suspected drug use. Lt. Roberts gave information.

On Jan. 15, Officer Guidry contacted two young men driving carelessly in a side-by-side in the parking lot of Southern Baptist University and told them to take it outside of city limits.

Officer Guidry gave a verbal warning on Jan. 15 to a young male driving an orange Camara with Texas plates for doing donuts in a parking lot.

On Tuesday, Officer Matthew Combs directed traffic for a semitruck that had broken down on the road.

Officer Combs was dispatched on Tuesday to check on a woman who had not been answering her phone. He made contact and she said she just did not feel like talking on the phone.

On Tuesday, Officer Guidry took a verbal complaint of harassment.

Officer Robert Poindexter was dispatched on Tuesday to Third Street for a a driver who had hit a deer and wanted a tag. Since the driver had already contacted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, Poindexter advised the tag would have to be procured through that agency.

On Wednesday, Officer Poindexter gave a courtesy ride to a man who was walking.

Officer Poindexter responded on Thursday to a house fire call on Sara Street. Firefighters and an ambulance arrived on scene and now fire was found. It was believed a blower on an outdoor furnace was making smoke.

On Thursday, a grandmother reported her granddaughter was trying to leave and requested an officer to respond. Assistant Chief Schwien responded, and learned the girl was wanting to go live with her mother. Children’s Division employees on scene advised against it. Juvenile services were contacted.

Officer Guidry responded Thursday to a stuck vehicle. Information was exchanged and no report was needed.

On Thursday, Officer McGee assisted the Howell County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop.
