Naya Farrell, 20, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 6:49 p.m. Feb. 2 on a charge of failure to show proof of insurance. Officer Alexis Johnson.

Samantha Young, 30, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 7:26 p.m. Feb. 2 on charges of failure to register vehicle and failure to show proof of insurance. Officer Johnson.

Brenda Youngblood, 56, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 10:53 a.m. Feb. 3 on a charge of stealing, value under $500.

Curtis Walton, 66, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 10:48 a.m. Feb. 3 on a charge of stealing, value under $500.

Kimberly Whippo, 54, Mtn. Grove, was ticketed at 12:50 p.m. Feb. 3 on a charge of failure to register vehicle. Lt. Trenton Roberts.

Christopher Squire, 35, Cassville, was ticketed at 6:33 p.m. Feb. 3 on a charge of failure to register vehicle. Sgt. Kaleb Berkshire.

Christopher Rowlett, 47, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 10:51 p.m. Feb. 3 on charges of speeding by 11-15 mph over and failure to use a turn signal. Sgt. Berkshire.

Alicia Mansfield, 30, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 6:35 p.m. Feb. 4 on a charge of failure to show proof of insurance.

Kristina Killion, 28, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 8:42 p.m. Feb. 8 on charges of having an expired license and failure to register vehicle. Officer Johnson.

Dawnalehia Norris, 52, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 9:47 p.m. Feb. 8 on an unspecified charge.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Cpl. Israel Guidry encountered a woman in a vehicle at a park on Feb. 2 after midnight and informed her the park was closed as of midnight.

On Feb. 2, Sgt. Berkshire stood by while West Plains Bank and Trust Company employees maintained the ATM.

Sgt. Berkshire responded on Feb. 2 to a call regarding a 53-year-old man possibly overdosing. The man was responsive and refused medical evaluation. Emergency medical services arrived and were able to check the man, determining he was oK.

On Feb. 3, Officer Kylie McGee was checking buildings and noticed a vehicle without registration parked at the Youth Center. Lights were on in the building, despite it being after normal business hours and the doors were unlocked. She contacted the center’s director, who was inside, and learned the facility was being prepared for a basketball event the next day.

Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien was dispatched Feb. 3 to a stealing call at the community outreach building on East Fifth Street. He arrived and assisted Lt. Roberts in taking two people into custody for stealing donations. Both were ticketed and released with a court date.

On Feb. 3, a woman reported a deer on Highway 17 had a net around its neck. Lt. Roberts passed the information along to the appropriate agency.

A man called police on Feb. 3 to ask an officer to take a picture of his car so he could post it in the paper. Lt. Roberts took the call and the man’s request was denied.

On Feb. 3, Lt. Roberts was contacted by a woman with questions about a 2019 case. He provided information.

Officer McGee spoke with a man on Feb. 4, as he was parked in the alley behind Ron’s Restaurant, and the man said he was putting wood in the stove to his granddaughter’s business.

On Feb. 4, Officer Johnson was dispatched to remove hay from a road.

Officer Kris Reinholdt received a call on Feb. 4 to respond to East Third Street for a group of people running around and causing a disturbance. When he arrived, a man was using his fists to beat on a pickup truck while screaming at the driver. When the officer rolled down his window to ask what was happening, the man expressed displeasure at the officer’s presence and approached aggressively, then threw a punch with his left hand, which Reinholdt blocked, then used his other hand to reach behind the officer’s right ear and attmeted to pull him out of the vehicle. The officer rolled his head back to get out of the man’s reach and drove away to request backup. Chief Jamie Perkins arrived with two Howell County deputies shortly after, and while Reinholdt was apprising them of the situation, dispatch alerted officers to a nearby burglary. The residents of the home reported the same man who had attacked the officer broke the door locks to enter their house, then attacked them when they pushed him out. A struggle ensued with blows exchanged until the man fell off the porch. Officers approached the man, who was across the street and assumed a fighting stance as they approached, and refused to comply with commands and resisted arrest. While Reinholdt had his Taser drawn in case it was necessary to use it, Perkins managed to take the man down and put him in restraints. Even after being placed in cuffs, the man continued to resist as the officers tried to get him in a patrol vehicle.

On Feb. 4, a woman asked Lt. Roberts questions about trespassing and he gave her information.

On Feb. 4, Officer McGee found a dog in the parking lot of Casey’s that did not have a collar. The dog would not approach the officer, so she went in to speak with an employee, who said the dog’s presence was not a problem and staff feed and care for it.

Officer McGee took a report on Feb. 5 of a traffic incident, resulting in a ticket being issued for failure to provide proof of insurance.

On Feb. 5, Officer Johnson responded to a business for a person walking around the building after hours. She confronted the person, who then fled on foot, and she was unable to find the person.

Chief Perkins responded on Feb. 5 to a call regarding an unattended child outside of a vehicle in a parking lot. He spoke to the property’s manager, who said no child had been seen unattended in the lot, and 911 dispatch advised the child was actually in a car. He advised 911 that was not against the law and no response was needed.

On Feb. 5, a woman reported her landlord was trying to break into her home. Lt. Roberts responded and the landlord had left by the time he arrived. After further discussion it was determined to be a civil landlord/tenant issue.

Lt. Roberts checked on a vehicle pulled to the shoulder of a road on Feb. 5. The driver had pulled over to write down a phone number.

On Feb. 5, Lt. Roberts was contacted by a woman with questions about a 2023 case and he gave information.

Cpl. Guidry secured the golf course gates on Feb. 5.

On Feb. 6, Officer Matt Combs was dispatched to collect a report, but the people filling out the forms had not yet finished. They said they would drop them off at the police station once complete.

Brown’s Farm and Garden, which rents out U-Hauls, asked for police assistance in helping to remove a trailer from the database of stolen vehicles on Feb. 6. Specifically, the business asked for an officer to come take a report that the vehicle is back in their possession. Lt. Roberts responded to confirm the trailer, take a report and remove the trailer from the database.

On Feb. 6, Cpl. Guidry was dispatched to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle but could not find the vehicle.

Officer Combs took a call on Feb. 7 from a woman who said her neighbor’s dog was running loose.

On Feb. 7, Officer Combs spoke to a dog’s owners about the dog being off-leash and informed them of the city’s leash law.

Cpl. Guidry on Feb. 7 spoke to a 14-year-old and school administration. The teen wanted to report issues in the home. Information was gathered for a report and Children’s Division was notified.

On Feb. 7, a man collapsed at a church and was taken to an emergency room. Cpl. Guidry.

Cpl. Guidry took a call on Feb. 7 from a woman who complained a person who was panhandling near McDonald’s is her coworker at a full-time job and had “no reason to be asking for handouts.”

On Feb. 8, Sgt. Berkshire assisted Children’s Division with an investigation.

Sgt. Berkshire was advised on Feb. 8 that a girl known to authorities had run away. He, Assistant Chief Schwien, Cpl. Guidry and Officer McGee all looked for the girl, and Howell County deputies and troopers with Troop G of the patrol were called in to assist. After hours of searching, she was entered as a missing person, and later that evening, found safely.

Officer Johnson stopped a vehicle on Feb. 8 and a passenger was found to be wanted on an active warrant. The driver was ticketed for having an expired license and plates.

On Feb. 8, Officer Combs stopped a vehicle resulting in tickets being issued for failure to display state plates.
