Jason Bay, 42, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 11:02 p.m. Feb. 9 on a charge of careless and imprudent driving.

Joseph Mitchell, 31, Moscow Mills, was ticketed at 5:34 p.m. Feb. 10 on a charge of driving while suspended or revoked. Officer Kylie McGee.

Derick Huffman, 23, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 7:25 p.m. Feb. 10 on a charge of failure to show proof of insurance. Officer McGee.

Kelsey Schmidt, 25, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 10 p.m. Feb. 11 on a charge of failure to register vehicle. Officer Alexis Johnson.

Debra Branam, 58, Mt. Juliet, Tenn., was ticketed at 1:13 a.m. Thursday on charges of speeding by 20-25 mph over and failure to display state plates. Officer Matthew Combs.

Kathy Spence, 40, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 8:19 p.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to register vehicle. Officer Combs.

Raphael Kargel, 46, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 9:11 p.m. Thursday on a charge of speeding by 20-25 mph over. Officer Combs.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

A woman went to the police station on Feb. 9to turn herself in and post bond on an active city warrant. She was booked and released when she paid her full bond amount. Sgt. Kaleb Berkshire.

On Feb. 9, a woman reported her vehicle stolen and said the person who took it was sending her pictures and threatening to burn the vehicle. Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien responded to take her report and logged the vehicle into the police database as stolen.

Officer McGee spoke to a woman Feb. 9 who wanted information about a custody exchanged, and advised the woman of her rights and suggested she look over the existing parenting plan.

On Feb. 10, Officer McGee delivered city council agenda packets.

Officer McGee spoke to a woman Feb. 10 at the laundromat on East Fifth Street, who reported a man told her to be careful because two women were trying to look through his vehicle. The reporting party said she had never seen the man before, and he had been doing laundry but left. She asked for extra patrol and said his vehicle might still be at the Southwest Baptist University campus, but she’d never seen any women as he’d described.

On Feb. 10, Officer McGee made contact with the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala that matched the description of an earlier reported concern regarding women looking into vehicles at the laundromat. The driver was asleep in the Southwest Baptist University parking lot, and when asked, said he had not seen any women.

Officer Johnson spoke on Feb. 10 to a mother of a missing child, who explained where the child often goes and what he was last known to be wearing. She went to the youth center to see if the boy had gone to a skate night the center was hosting, and went to locations where the child was known to hang out. The child was not at the youth center and adults at the first hang-out location had not seen the child. A second location checked turned up the boy. His mother was contacted.

On Feb. 10, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to Delp Road for a report of people trying to break into a car. He searched the area and nearby properties but did not find anyone. Contact information was gathered from witnesses and the case is under investigation.

Police located a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The vehicle, found on East James Street, was secured and the owner notified before it was towed from the scene. The case is under further investigation. Assistant Chief Schwien.

On Feb. 10, Sgt. Berkshire replaced a vehicle light bulb for Officer Johnson.

Sgt. Berkshire attempted on Feb. 10 to follow up with the reporting party regarding a recovered stolen vehicle, but no one was home.

Officer McGee assisted a woman on Feb. 10 who was attempting to save a mouse stuck to a mouse trap. She was worried that once she let the mouse go, cats would kill it.

On Feb. 10, Officer McGee stopped a vehicle, resulting in a ticket issued for the driver, whose privileges were revoked. The driver was booked and released, and a passenger with a valid license drove the vehicle.

A woman called Feb. 10 and requested a well-being check on another woman she’d seen walking in the middle of Elm Street. Officer McGee checked the area but was not able to locate the woman.

On Feb. 12, Officer Johnson attempted to make a warrant arrest but the subject was not at the location.

Officer Johnson made an arrest Feb. 12 on a warrant from West Plains. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the West Plains Police Department.

On Feb. 12, Officer Johnson responded to a domestic disturbance. The victim declined to press charges and was taken by an ambulance to West Plains to be evaluated.

Lt. Trenton Roberts responded Feb. 12 to a noninjury traffic crash and took information.

On Feb. 12, Sgt. Berkshire stopped to check on a black SUV in the ditch alongside the eastbound lane of U.S. 60. The driver said his parents were on the way and declined to have the vehicle towed.

Sgt. Berkshire reported on Feb. 12 that multiple vehicles had run off the road. First responders were used for traffic control and one vehicle was left on the roadside.

On Feb. 12, Cpl. Israel Guidry responded to a sledding accident at a park, in which a father and his daughter had collided with a light pole at the base of a hill. The father had a bleeding head injury and the girl had a broken leg. Both were checked out by emergency medical personnel. The father was cleared to drive and the girl was taken by ambulance to the hospital with her mother riding along.

Cpl. Guidry responded Tuesday to a business alarm and found no signs of forced entry. Dispatch notified the key holder but got no response.

On Tuesday, Chief Jamie Perkins received a call from Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G asking for a check to be done on a stranded driver on Highway 17, in the northbound lane. He responded, but was not able to find the truck.

A woman reported on Tuesday a neighbor was continuing to walk around her home and was standing at her windows. Lt. Roberts responded and checked the area, finding no one to be outside of the home.

On Wednesday, Officer Combs was dispatched to a call regarding a person walking up to houses, asking to use the restroom and looking into vehicles. He found the person and told him to go home.

Cpl. Guidry was preparing on Wednesday to leave the police station to respond to a domestic disturbance call when a woman involved arrived at the station and told him what happened. A complaint form was completed. He went to the scene of the conflict and attempted to speak with the other party, but there was no answer. He left a card and follow-up will be done.

On Wednesday, Cpl. Guidry spoke to a woman who reported a loose dog had come onto her property. He spoke to the dog’s owner and advised them to purchase a larger collar that the dog would not be able to slip out of.

Cpl. Guidry received a report on Wednesday of a woman sitting under a sign at the intersection of Highway 17 and W Highway. He went to check on her well-being and was unable to find her.
