Michelle Riske, 42 Mtn. View, was ticketed at 3:30 p.m. March 30 on charges of failure to register vehicle and failure to show proof of insurance. Sgt. Kaleb Berkshire.

Paul Hankey, 52, Willow Springs, was ticketed at 11:15 a.m. April 4 on a charge of disorderly conduct. Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien.

Coral Counts, 30, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 7:23 p.m. April 4 on charges of having a vicious dog and not having proof of rabies vaccination for a dog. Officer Matthew Combs.

David Sudduth, 64, Westminster, Colo., was ticketed at 12:38 a.m. April 6 on a charge of speeding by 16-19 mph over. Officer Combs.

Bradley Bateman, 40, Springfield, was ticketed at 6:55 p.m. April 6 on a charge of speeding by 11-15 mph over. Officer Combs.

Jacob Taylor, 23, was ticketed at 7:43 p.m. April 6 on a charge of possessing an open container. Officer Combs.

Reno Hansen, 25, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 7:51 p.m. April 6 on a charge of failure to sign ownership of a title. Officer Combs.

A 17-year-old from Birch Tree, whose name is not publicized by law enforcement due to being a minor, was ticketed at 11:21 p.m. April 6 on a charge of failure to register a vehicle. Officer Combs.

Angela Voyles, 44, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 1:24 a.m. on a seat belt violation charge.

Ellia Guile, 18, Carthage, was ticketed at 3:03 a.m. April 8 on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Combs.

A 17-year-old driver from Birch Tree was ticketed at 3:09 a.m. April 8 on charges of driving on a highway without a valid license and speeding by 20-25 mph over. Officer Combs.

Ethan Renegar, 20, Birch Tree, was ticketed at 11:46 a.m. April 8 on a charge of careless and imprudent driving. Officer First Class Kylie McGee.

Amanda Reese, 27, Winona, was ticketed at 3:32 p.m. April 8 on a charge of failure to register a vehicle. Officer Alexis Johnson.

Lucas Langston, 19, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 5:27 p.m. April 8 on charges of careless and imprudent driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Sgt. Berkshire.

Elwood Rulon, 35, Mtn. View, was ticketed at 9:32 p.m. Thursday on a charge of driving while suspended or revoked.

Melanie Miller, 47, West Plains, was ticketed at 10:32 p.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to stop at a stop sign. Cpl. Israel Guidry.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Officer Combs was dispatched March 29 for a report of a person walking into another person’s yard. The reporting party had run the unwanted person off and he was unable to locate them.

On March 29, a person reported a white semitruck broken down in the eastbound lane on U.S. 60. Assistant Chief Schwien was unable to locate the truck.

Assistant Chief Schwien responded March 29 to assist a driver with reloading a round hay bale that had fallen into the road.

On March 29, a woman reported she was not able to get in touch with her sister, who had been sick. Assistant Chief Schwien called the woman’s sister, who said she was fine and would call her sister.

Sgt. Berkshire responded on March 29 to a complaint of a vehicle sounding loud music and possibly a siren. When he arrived, there was no vehicle matching the description.

On March 29, Sgt. Berkshire was dispatched to Veterans Park for a report of a young girl of about 6 or 7 dropped off alone at the park. The reporting party said the black minivan that had dropped the child off returned. Sgt. Berkshire responded and spoke to the child’s mother, asking why she was alone. The woman said her other three children were at the park watching the girl, and she had left for two minutes to get all the children drinks. She was warned of the dangers of leaving her child unattended.

On March 29, Officer First Class McGee was asked to check on some children at a home on West Fourth Street, as the reporting party believed they had been left unsupervised. The officer spoke to a a babysitter; the children were not unsupervised.

Officer First Class McGee checked on a blue Chevrolet Silverado March 30, that was sitting on the parking lot of the Jehovah Witness church. The occupants said they were just enjoying their food.

On March 30, Officer First Class McGee was dispatched to East Third Street for a complaint of excessive noice. When she arrived, there were no noises, but the reporting party came out to speak with her, and said the woman who was making the noise was taken inside after she had fallen. The officer spoke to the daughter of the woman making the noise, who said she had just put her mom to bed and there would be no more noise.

Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched March 30 to East Fourth Street for a reported assault in progress. He spoke to a man and woman, and determined both were intoxicated, but no assault had happened, just a peace disturbance.

On March 30, Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched to East James Street for a report of a suspicious bag in the road. He found a duffle bag containing personal property, including identification. The bag was secured at the police station and attempts would be made to locate the owner.

Assistant Chief Schwien was dispatched March 30 to East Third Street for a report a verbal domestic disturbance in progress. The parties were separated and one agreed to leave for the day.

On March 30, a woman contacted Assistant Chief Schwien for help figuring which license plates belonged on her vehicle. He helped her.

Sgt. Berkshire spoke to someone on March 30 who reported a gold SUV driving by, whose driver was unknown to the reporting party and honking the horn in front of the caller’s house and flipping her child off. Extra patrol was requested.

On March 30, Sgt. Berkshire was dispatched to check on a dog reported to be without shade, food or water, but the dog did have those things.

Officer First Class McGee was dispatched on March 30 to East Third Street for a civil matter between two residents. She spoke to each and told them they would have to go through the eviction process to remove an occupant.

On March 31, Officer First Class McGee was dispatched to Jackson Street for a suspicious yellow van collecting a vehicle out of the driveway. She spoke to the owners of the van and the owner of the car being collected and both said the car was being sold.

Officer First Class McGee was conducting building checks March 31 and found a garage left open and checked the area.

On March 31, Officer First Class McGee was dispatched to Champ’s Fitness for a man who locked himself out of his truck. He called a locksmith.

Lt. Trenton Roberts was dispatched on March 31 to U.S. 60 for a man crossing the highway and almost getting hit by a vehicle. The man was told to use the crosswalk for his own safety.

On March 31, Lt. Roberts was contacted by a caller who said a reckless vehicle almost struck her own vehicle. He was not able to find the vehicle in question.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched on March 31 to Falck Street for a burglar alarm. The building was checked and the doors and windows were secure.

On March 31, Lt. Roberts was contacted by a man who said he believes someone keeps breaking into his apartment. Information was provided.

Lt. Roberts was advised on March 31 of a reckless driver on South Highway 17 and passed the information along to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

On March 31, Lt. Roberts was contacted about a loose dog on North Ash Street and passed the information along to animal control.

Officer First Class McGee received a call on March 31 about a man passing a residence in the area of Washington and Jackson streets, honking his horn. She went to the home where the truck’s owner lived and no one was home, but the truck was there. She contacted the man who said he was at Walmart when the event reportedly took place. The reporting party requested extra patrol, and the driver was advised to drive slowly in the area due to children playing. She said the city would also be asked to put up signs.

On March 31, Officer First Class McGee received a report of a hit-and-run involving a white GMC pickup truck and a red Kia sedan parked in the Walmart parking lot. The truck left the scene without reporting the accident. A complaint form was given to the Kia’s driver and photos of the damage were taken and videos were recorded on the officer’s bodycam.

Officer First Class McGee was dispatched April 1 to East Third Street for a report of a pit bull that had gotten loose. She leashed the dog and took it home, where she warned the owner about having a dog at large.

On April 1, a man contacted police with questions about grass clippings and leaves on city streets. Lt. Roberts provided information.

Lt. Roberts spoke to a woman at the police station on April 1 regarding property owned by married people, and gave information.

On April 1, Lt. Roberts received a complaint about campaign signs on public property, and the caller asked the signs to be removed. He spoke to a family member who lives with the candidate.

Lt. Roberts assisted the Division of Family Services with a home visit April 1 as a follow-up to a hotline call. Information was taken for a report.

On April 1, Cpl. Guidry responded to a call regarding a verbal domestic disturbance and gave the parties notice that if officers had to return, both would go to jail.

Cpl. Guidry recovered a stolen handgun on April 1.

On April 1, Cpl. Guidry assisted on a medical call involving a patient with a cut to the left forearm, who was taken by ambulance to West Plains.

Cpl. Guidry secured the golf course on April 1.

On April 2, Lt. Roberts was dispatched to Kansas Street for a woman wanted on active warrants. She was taken into custody.

Cpl. Guidry responded on April 2 to a commercial alarm. The building as secure and he completed a walk-through of the business with the key holder.

On April 3, Assistant Chief Schwien assisted with a broken-down vehicle on South Highway 17. Baker’s Towing was contacted to remove the vehicle.

Assistant Chief Schwien responded to a nuisance violation on April 3 and issued a warning.

On April 3, Cpl. Guidry responded to West Fourth Street near U.S. 60 for a disabled vehicle, which was towed by Baker’s Towing.

Assistant Chief Schwien assisted Adult Senior Services with a home visit on April 4 but was unable to make contact.

On April 4, Sgt. Berkshire transported a vehicle for maintenance.

Lt. Roberts was advised on April 5 of a reckless driver on South Highway 17. He checked the area but did not find the vehicle.

On April 5, a woman turned in a lost phone at the police station. It was placed in lost and found by Lt. Roberts.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched on April 5 for a possible drunk driver coming toward city limits. He checked the area and did not locate the vehicle.

On April 5, Officer First Class McGee followed-up on nuisance violations.

Officer First Class McGee assisted a woman who went to the police station to ask for help using her new pepper gun on April 5.

On April 5, a man reported a neighbor was parking in his parking spot so that his sister would not visit. Sgt. Berkshire told the man it was a civil issue and he would need to talk with his landlord, to which the man said he had, but the landlord would not do anything. He was advised of his options and given a courtesy ride home.

Sgt. Berkshire spoke to a woman on April 5 who said her husband gave her a sexually transmitted disease and she wanted a divorce, and he had kicked her out of the car and left her, but she did not want to press charges. She was told it was a civil issue and she needed to call a friend or family member. She said she wanted a ride to Eminence, and was told police cannot leave city limits. The officer noted she was clearly intoxicated and had multiple nonextraditable warrants and was on probation and parole, and he would notify the agency.

On April 5, Sgt. Berkshire assisted a driver on U.S. 60 whose vehicle appeared to have a blown head gasket, which sprayed oil and antifreeze inside the engine bay and caused it to smoke. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle. The fire department checked the vehicle and released it to be towed by Baker’s Towing.

Sgt. Berkshire spoke to people who were squatting at a home on April 5. The owner of the property will have to serve an eviction notice before they will leave.

On April 6, Officer Johnson spoke to a woman who had urinated in a parking lot, and said she was unable to make it to a bathroom, but she would stay inside for the night.

Officer First Class McGee spoke to neighbors of a property for an ongoing property damage investigation on April 7. They gave information about who might be able to help.

On April 7, Officer First Class McGee spoke with a man and woman who were neighbors to a residence on Jackson Street that she was collecting information for, but they were unable to help.

A man in a red jacket was soliciting on April 7 on the corner of East First Street and North Pine Street. Officer First Class McGee told him to get a permit the following day if he would like to continue. The man left without incident.

On April 7, Officer First Class McGee was dispatched to Sharp Street for a sick raccoon. She spoke to the reporting party who was unsure what was wrong with the animal. The animal was killed and removed.

Officer First Class McGee took a call on April 8 regarding dogs belonging to the reporting party’s neighbor, running around and tearing up trash. She arrived with animal control and it was learned the dogs’ owner had abandoned one of them when it became pregnant, and now there were four dogs running loose. The neighbors completed complaint forms and the animals were caught.

On April 8, Sgt. Berkshire was dispatched to check on a man who was vomiting and passing out. He arrived and assisted until an ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital.

Officer Johnson responded to the intersection of U.S. 60 and Elm Street on April 8 to help direct traffic in the westbound lane of U.S. 60.

On April 8, Sgt. Berkshire helped direct traffic in the westbound lane of U.S. 60 at Pine Street.

Cpl. Guidry recovered a lost dog on April 8, took it to the pound and notified the animal control officer.

On Tuesday, a woman asked for an officer to make a man leave her home. Assistant Chief Schwien responded, advised the man to leave and advised the woman to issue a trespass order.

Sgt. Berkshire spoke to a homeowner on Tuesday who said someone had messed with a lock on his shed, which held a lot of tools and materials. The reporting party said it had happened before and someone had tried to do the same with his door at his home. The officer explained the man had the right to protect his home and property, but the police department is less than a minute away, and the man said he would call if anything further happened. No damage was visible and the man did not know when it happened or who could have done it, so no report was taken.

On Wednesday, Assistant Chief Schwien issued a warning for a nuisance violation.

Assistant Chief Schwien located an address for an abandoned vehicle on Wednesday and contacted Winona police, who said they would try to reach the owner to find out what was going on with the vehicle. They were unsuccessful, so an abandoned-vehicle notice was left, giving the owner 96 hours from 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to remove it or it would be towed.

On Wednesday, two women were in a physical fight, and a victim was given a statement form to fill out if she wished. Cpl. Guidry advised her to notify police if and when the form was completed.

Cpl. Guidry responded on Thursday to a domestic disturbance. The couple involved said it was verbal only.
