A plaque dedicating the Wayside Park Blue Star Memorial, recognizing the service of all U.S. Armed Forces veterans, was unveiled March 27 at the park off of Fifth Street in Mtn. View. The ceremony included the presentation of colors by members of the Mtn. View Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3009 and the playing of taps. The memorial is sponsored by the Mtn. View Garden Club 2017, with cooperation from VFW Post 3009 and the Federated Garden Club of Missouri, and is administered by National Garden Clubs. The marker and flag pole are surrounded by a garden bed with a red, white and blue theme, freshly planted with grape hyacinth, blue-eyed Veronica, two dwarf conifers, Obsession nandina, white creeping phlox, white peonies, Siberian squill, and white giant crocus.
