Richards School Board meets tonight

Posted

The Richards School Board is set to hold its monthly session at 6 p.m. today in the school boardroom.

Following the consent agenda, the board will hear administrative reports from Principal Mick Price, Superintendent Dr. Melonie Bunn and Executive Administrator Jerry Premer.

Program evaluations for technology and the library are on the agenda, as well as a presentation from the salary committee.

Board members will set a date for reorganization, which will follow the annual school board election on April 2; no election will be held in the Richards School District as there are no challengers vying for seats currently held.

A closed executive session will be held to discuss legal and employee matters prior to adjourning the meeting.

The board last met Jan. 18 in regular session with all members present, save for Ray Murphy.

FEBRUARY MEETING

Following routine administrative reports, given during the Feb. 15 meeting of the school board, members voted unanimously to adjust the 2023-24 school year calendar to give students a day off on April 8, making that a teacher in-service day. April 15, which was originally scheduled for in-service, will now be a school day.

A guidance and counseling program evaluation presented by guidance counselors Tiffanie Bryant and Colbi Gastineau was also approved unanimously during that meeting.

Lawncare bids were considered and the board voted to accept a bid from Cox Lawn Care.

The board moved into executive session prior to adjourning the meeting. Those present were President Ricky Vonallmen and members Casey Whisenant, Brian Morrison and Matt Barnes. Members Ray Murphy, Gerald Smith and Jacob Deckard were absent.

The Richards School Board typically meets on the third Thursday of each month. For previous school board minutes, visit www.richardsschool.k12.mo.us/domain/29.
