Two West Plains residents and a Texas County resident suffered serious injuries in three accidents that happened Friday according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Christopher J. Henry, 29, West Plains, was hurt at 5:30 p.m. that day when his SUV ran off the road, into five parked vehicles, reported Cpl. J.D. Wheeler with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs.
Henry was driving an eastbound 2016 Buick Enclave on U.S. 160, a mile west of West Plains, when it ran off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned, traveling into the parking lot of Hibby’s Sports Grill, the report shows. There, the Buick struck a 2014 Ford Mustang, a 2019 Dodge Ram, a 2011 Dodge Durango, a 2019 Ford F150 and a 2024 Mazda CX50, the patrol reported.
Henry was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment, according to Wheeler, who was assisted at the scene by Msgt. S.L. Nelson, Howell Rural Fire Department No. 1, the Howell County Sheriff's Office and South Howell County Ambulance.
Two teen girls were injured when a utility vehicle overturned at 4:30 p.m. Friday on County Road 9560 in Howell County, 5 miles west of Koshkonong. The victims' names were not released by the patrol because they are minors.
Tpr. L.C. Pruiett reported one of the girls, age 13, of Bakersfield, was driving a westbound 2017 John Deere Gator, steered it to avoid hitting a deer and lost control, and the UTV overturned.
The patrol reported the driver was not wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries, and her passenger, age 14 of West Plains, was wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries.
Both were transported by private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment, the report shows.
Marvin A. Cooper, 59, Bucyrus, was hurt in a crash at 12:20 p.m. Friday on Highway 106, 2 miles east of Summersville in Shannon County.
Tpr. J.J. Smith reported Cooper was driving an eastbound 2006 Ford Ranger that ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment and fence.
He was wearing a seat belt and was transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, for treatment of serious injuries, Smith reported.
