Posted

Beginning Monday, South U.S. 63 in Howell and Oregon Counties will be reduced to one lane with an 11-foot width restriction as construction crews perform pavement repairs, announce officials with the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The affected route begins at Business U.S. 63 in West Plains and ends at Oregon County Road 366 just south of Koshkonong. Weather permitting, work will be done from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday through June 28. Flaggers will be present, and traffic will be guided through the work zone with a pilot car.

Ava to get new roundabout

Highway 14 in Douglas County will be closed for several weeks beginning in late March as contractor crews build a new roundabout at the intersection of Highway 14, Business Highway 5, North Jefferson Street and Bacorn Avenue in Ava.

Work is anticipated to begin at 6 a.m. March 25 with completion expected July 12.  The closure will extend from Lyle Street to Dean Avenue in Ava. During this time, changeable message boards and detour signs will be in place.

This project will also include drainage and pedestrian improvements in the area of the new roundabout, which will have designated pedestrian crossings on North Jefferson Street and Bacorn Avenue.

The work zones will be marked with signs. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the areas.
