Two Tigers with local ties are recipients of the 2024 Mizzou ’39 Award, presented to outstanding seniors in the spirit of service that was the cornerstone of the 1839 founding of the University of Missouri in Columbia, officials announce.
Reagan Gean Swatosh, a senior in the College of Arts and Science and resident of Ava, and William
Wehmer, a senior in the Missouri School of Journalism from Springfield, were among the 39 students honored.
Swatosh is the daughter of attorney Chris Swatosh and his wife Marcella. Wehmer is the nephew of Lou Wehmer of Willow Springs and the son of Shay Medley Missouri Newspaper Hall-of-Famer Dan Wehmer, publisher of the Webster County Citizen, based in Seymour.
Recipients of the award are chosen for their academic achievement, leadership and service to Mizzou and the community.
