Posted

The third annual Howell County Fire Engine Rally is set to begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 7, to be held in a new location this year, the parking lot of the Greater Ozarks Center for Advanced Technology, 395 E. Broadway in West Plains.

Festivities will start with the posting of colors by the Howell County Honor Guard, with activities and competitions to follow at 11 a.m.

The community is invited to attend. Children and adults of all ages will be able to compete in a variety of games and competitions including tug-of-war, a tricycle race and a bucket brigade. There will also be a truck pull and a “midnight alarm” competition. A truck pull for kids will be held using a Kubota tractor.

Firefighters and personnel from multiple area fire departments are expected to participate, and all are encouraged to attend and cheer on their favorite fire department team.

A breakfast for emergency medical workers and their families will be served at 8 a.m. that day at Howell County Rural Fire Department No. 1 on K Highway. The menu offerings include biscuits, sausage gravy, sausage patties, orange juice, coffee and water. To secure tickets, contact Christel Cantrell at Howell Rural, Dylan Summers or Alex Brooks at West Plains Fire & Rescue or Bethany Busbey at Peace Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

An appreciation plaque will be presented to a member of the community after the posting of colors.
