Weekend crashes injure three area residents

Serious injuries were reported for an Ozark County woman who was in a traffic crash at 3:50 p.m. Saturday on W Highway 3 miles east of Pontiac in Ozark County, reported the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Sgt. A.R. Johnson reported Katherine E. Pine, 32, was the driver of an eastbound 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that ran off the road, overturned and struck an embankment, and had a 6-year-old girl as a passenger. Both occupants are from Pontiac.

It is not known whether Pine wore a seat belt or the girl was in a car seat, the report shows. Moderate injuries were reported for the girl, whose identifying information is not publicized by the patrol because she is a minor. Both were taken by Ozark County Ambulance to Baxter Health in Mtn. Home, Ark., the report shows.

A Winona resident was hurt in a collision at 11:38 a.m. Saturday at the junction of Highway 19 and H Highway at the Winona city limits.

Msgt. B.D. Foster reported Robert J. Rowland, 57, Winona was southbound on Highway 19 in his 2005 Pontiac when a westbound 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck crossed on westbound H Highway and pulled into his path. The pickup was reportedly driven by Daniel D. Bailey, Waterloo, Ill.

Both men wore seat belts. Rowland was taken by Mercy Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, the report shows. No injuries were reported for Bailey.

A Douglas County man suffered serious injuries at 2:45 p.m. Friday when his utility vehicle lost control on private property on County Road 246 a mile southwest of Drury.

Sgt. L.S. Elliot reported Mitchell W. Casey, 76, of Drury, was traveling south across a private yard on his 2018 Honda 700M2 side-by-side and lost control, hitting a group of trees.

The report shows Casey was exempt from wearing a safety device, and was taken by Cox Air Care Helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment.
