The October meeting of the West Plains R-7 School Board will be held beginning with a closed session 5 p.m. Tuesday in the West Plains High School library to discuss possible personnel, student, legal and real estate matters.

The meeting will be opened to the public at 5:30 p.m.

First on the agenda for the open session is a West Plains High School student spotlight. The meeting will then move on to consent agenda items, including the approval of minutes from previous meetings, the presentation of the monthly finance report and approval of staffing changes and program evaluations.

Payment of bills is scheduled as a regular agenda item, then board members will revisit an update on the district's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) under previous business.

New business items include consideration of approval of board candidate election filing dates for the April 2, 2024, general election; a Missouri Capital Asset Advantage Treasury (MOCAAT) resolution and a MOCAAT instrument of adoption; a Missouri State University Child and Family Development affiliation agreement; the district’s Dyslexia Plan; and the disposal of surplus property.

Updates and reports to the board will be presented by each of the school building administrators and Superintendent Dr. Wes Davis. Board members will also hear reports pertaining to the public relations and communications department; facilities, human resources, security and capital projects; teaching and learning; and federal programs and special education. An update will also be made by Springfield-based construction and engineering company Veregy.

The open session meeting will then adjourn and the board will return to closed session if needed to finish earlier discussion.

The next regular monthly meeting will be held Nov. 14.
