WP Library to forgive, waive fines in September

Posted

There will be no fines collected at the West Plains Public Library, 750 W. Broadway, through the month of September.

“The West Plains Public Library is excited about the start of another school year, and we want to make sure families have the resources they need to make it successful,” announces library Manager Greg Carter.

He explained that the library is partnering with the community to offer four weeks of fine-free service for the month of September, adding, “Not only will fines not accrue for the month, but all outstanding fines will be forgiven.”

Those who have overdue materials checked out are reminded to return all materials, no matter how long past overdue they are.

All patrons are asked to stop in or call the library, 417-256-4775, to let staff know if they have a fine. If postage charges have been applied, such as fees related to certified letters, those will not be waived, Carter said.

September is Library Card Signup Month, and the library will be announcing related upcoming special events, said Carter. Watch the Quill or the library’s Facebook page @westplainslibrary for updates.
