WPHS Gears Up for an Exciting Senior Night with the Zizzers

Posted

The West Plains High School Zizzers are thrilled to announce a memorable evening celebrating the accomplishments and future aspirations of their senior baseball players. Scheduled for April 26, 2024, this Senior Night promises to be an exhilarating event as the Zizzers take on their rivals, the Ava Bears, in a highly anticipated home game.

Celebrating the Stars of Tomorrow

Senior Night is a cherished tradition at West Plains High School, marking an important milestone for the senior athletes and their families. This year, the event will spotlight eleven remarkable seniors who have made significant contributions to the team's success over their high school careers. The ceremony will take place between games, providing a perfect backdrop for families, friends, and fans to honor these young athletes.

Spotlight on Outstanding Senior Athletes

Over the next several Sundays leading up to the event, the community will get a closer look at each of the seniors being honored. Today, we highlight two standout players, Peyton Cooper and Coy Crites, whose dedication and passion for the game have left a lasting impact on the Zizzers baseball program.

Peyton Cooper – A Versatile Leader

Peyton Cooper has not only excelled as a shortstop and pitcher for the Zizzers but has also been a formidable competitor in basketball and football. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Student Council, Peyton is a true example of leadership and commitment both on and off the field.

After graduation, Peyton plans to continue his academic and baseball career at State Fair Community College. His favorite baseball memory comes from winning the prestigious Harrison Tournament, a moment of triumph and team spirit. Peyton's advice to aspiring players is straightforward yet powerful: "Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, but give effort 100% of the time."

Coy Crites – Business Savvy on and off the Field

Coy Crites, known for his powerful presence as a pitcher only, has been actively involved in the BETA club, Student Council, and serves as the Vice President of the Student Body. His leadership extends beyond sports, demonstrating his ability to balance multiple responsibilities successfully.

Coy's next steps involve playing baseball at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) while pursuing a degree in business management. His fondest baseball memory was being inducted into the "dinger squad" during his sophomore year, a testament to his hitting prowess. Coy advises younger players to "take it serious but do not take it too serious," encouraging a balanced approach to the game.

Join Us for a Night of Celebration

Senior Night is not only about reflecting on past achievements but also about looking forward to the future possibilities these young athletes will embrace. The West Plains community is invited to come out in force to support the Zizzers as they celebrate their seniors' contributions and cheer them on against Ava. It's an event that promises competitive baseball, heartfelt tributes, and community spirit.

Be sure to mark your calendars for April 26 and join us at the West Plains High School baseball field for an unforgettable Senior Night. Let's make it a spectacular send-off for a group of exceptional young men who have proudly worn the Zizzers uniform. See you at the game!
