“Thanks to your incredible support and Jay Hale's famous smoked ribs, we've raised a whopping $8,216 for our brave West Plains FFA member Andrew Bradley in his fight against cancer,” announced West Plains R-7 School District Communications Director Lana Snodgras. “Every dollar goes to help lighten the load for Andrew and his family.” Bradley, seated at center, is battling brain cancer, and West Plains FFA Adviser Jay Hale recently offered up his well-known and well-loved baby back pork ribs for sale for a fundraiser by the FFA program to raise funds to help Bradley’s family with expenses. Racks of ribs were sold for $25 each. Hale didn’t do it alone, though. Snodgras gave an express shoutout to the “barbecue heroes who helped make it happen,” including FFA members, school board members, high school faculty and staff, other students and community members, namely Cody Jedlicka, Jaden Brotherton, David Reid, Garrett Brigman, Lynn and Cindy Tyree, Ashley Cooley, Justin Cooley, Rachel Brotherton, Bruce Vincent, Kirsten Peterson, the West Plains FFA and Student Council, and, of course, Hale. “Your efforts cooked up more than just ribs,” Snodgras declared. “You've cooked up hope and community spirit.”
