Zizzers Class of '73 donates $2.7K to Hammond Mill Camp
The West Plains High School Class of 1973 held its 50 year class reunion in September, boasting “a great turnout” and activities classmates “enjoyed immensely.” In addition to celebrating 50 years since graduating, the class rallied resources to donate $2,725 to Hammond Mill Camp’s 75th Anniversary Capital Improvements Campaign. Funds raised via the campaign are going toward significant and much-needed improvements such as ongoing removal of dead trees and infrastructure improvements including roofing repairs that were completed in spring. The nonprofit, board-operated facility on CC Highway a few miles west of West Plains provides a place for summer youth camps, weddings and long-running family reunions. Restoration projects include remodeling cabins, restroom and laundry facilities, the dining hall, pavilion and chapel. The organization seeks to raise $160,000 for the projects.
