Richard Alverson and Kay Odom were united in marriage 64 years ago today on Dec. 4, 1960, at Mt. Zion Poe Hill Church near Olden in northern Howell County. The site of the ceremony held special meaning for the couple, as the church was built years before on land donated by Kay’s great-grandfather. To the couple’s union, two children were born: Cappy Fore and Rick Alverson, Jr. The family is now blessed with five grand children and “lots” of great-grandchildren.
