Heart of the Ozarks run draws 265 runners from 13 states
The 13th annual Heart of the Ozarks Half Marathon, 10K and Mindy's Run took place on Feb. 15, drawing 265 registered participants from 13 states. The event, which raises funds for the West Plains Running Club and youth running programs in Howell County, kicked off on Court Square and finished in front of the Historic Post Office on East Main Street. more

In a display of high-stakes basketball and community spirit at Thursday night’s annual Lady Zizzers Pink Out game, the state’s No. 5-ranked Doniphan Donettes outlasted the West Plains High School Lady Zizzers, 67-55, in a contest that was as much about supporting a noble cause as it was about the battle on the hardwood. more

Lady Zizzers to take on Donettes in Thursday’s Pink Out game
For the 12th year, Lady Zizzer Basketball, with the help of West Plains Bank and Trust Company, will raise funds to benefit local cancer patients through the team’s annual Pink Out game, scheduled for Thursday at West Plains High School. The Lady Zizzers will take on the Donettes of Doniphan, with junior varsity action beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a varsity contest beginning at about 7 p.m. more
