Arts Alliance member events and activities

 

Sept. 12 (7 p.m.) Hazard Pay and King Size: Music for the Soul in concert, Avenue Theatre, 307 Washington Ave. Free admission.

Sept. 12-Oct. 18 (during regular business hours) “Chuck Davis – Route 66 Turns 100,” exhibit on the mezzanine, West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St.

Sept. 15 (6-7 p.m.) “Walls Engraved Pottery” presentation by Toney Aid, hosted by Ozarks Heritage Research Center (OHRC), Garnett Library, 304 W. Trish Knight St.

Sept. 18 (7 p.m.) Live music featuring Mountain Sprout, The Yellow House, 209 W. Trish Knight St.

Sept. 19 (7 p.m.) Live music featuring Broken Knuckle, Beast/God and Mister Critter, The Yellow House.

Sept. 24-26 & Sept. 28-30 (8 a.m.-4 p.m.) Entries accepted for Rags to Art: A Fiber Art Show, Ozark Heritage Welcome Center, 2999 Porter Wagoner Blvd. Hosted by Explore West Plains, the art will be displayed at Dolly & Porter Days, Oct. 2 & 3. Oct. 3 (7 p.m.) Live music event featuring multiple bands, The Yellow House.

Oct. 10 (7 p.m.) Southern Missouri Community Orchestra free concert, Avenue Theatre, 307 Washington Ave.

Oct. 12-13 (6-8 p.m.) Auditions for “Miracle on 34th Street,” Avenue Theatre.

Through Sept. (weekdays, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) Art at OzSBI, artist Lee Copen, featured on first floor of Ozarks Small Business Incubator, 408 Washington Ave., in partnership with WPCA.

Through Sept. (during hours meals are served) Art at The Grizzly Bite, Artist Garrett Melby, 665 Missouri Ave., in partnership with WPCA.

Sept. 11-12, 15, 17-19 (7 p.m.) & Sept. 13 & 20 (3 p.m.) “Animal Farm” presented by West Plains Playhouse, West Plains Civic Center.

Sept. 17 (6-8 p.m.) Sounds Downtown free live music with the Downtown House Band opening for Molly Healey, The Back Lot, Luster Arcade. Bring lawn chairs.

Sept. 17 (opening reception 5:30-7 p.m.) & 18-19 (general sessions start at 8:30 a.m.) Ozarks Studies Symposium, theme: "The Missouri Ozarks: Through a 250-Year Lens" hosted by MSU-West Plains, West Plains Civic Center. Sept. 18 (5:30 p.m., doors at 5 p.m.) “Rock to Freedom” Concert, featuring Prowler and Southern Edge, hosted by Veteran Directed Care, Ozark Independent Living, West Plains Civic Center arena. Silent auction and other activities. Free admission.

Sept. 18 (7-7:45 p.m.) Live music “September Swing: A Journey Through Jazz” by MSU-West Plains University Jazz Ensemble, Cass Hall, 515 W. Cass Ave.

Sept. 24-25 (7 p.m.) & Sept. 26 (2 & 7 p.m.) Heart of the Ozarks Bluegrass (HOBA) Fall Festival, HOBA Park, 1138 Bluegrass Lane.

Sept. 29 (7-8 p.m.) Live music “A Night of Broadway!” by MSU-West Plains University Community Choir, First United Methodist Church, 503 W. Main.

Oct. 1 (4-7 p.m.) First Thursday Stroll, Downtown West Plains.

Oct. 2 (4-10 p.m.) & Oct. 3 (10 a.m.-10 p.m.) “Dolly & Porter Days” a Hometown Jubilee, featuring live music and other activities, Court Square, Downtown West Plains.

Oct. 3 (6 p.m.) Ozarks Healthcare Foundation Blue Jean Ball, Silver Springs Ranch.

Oct. 4 (3-4 p.m.) Live music, “Autumn Reflections – Blockbusters and Beyond” by MSU-West Plains University Community Orchestra, West Plains Civic Center theater.

Oct. 5 (3-4 p.m.) Live music, Fall Pops Concert by MSU-West Plains University Community Band, West Plains Civic Center arena.

Oct 10-11 (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) OzFaire Renaissance Festival, hosted by Always a Future for Kids, HOBA Park.
