Space is still available for participants who want to sign up to participate in Coach Tom Barr’s summer basketball specialty camps, beginning with a defensive skills camp on Monday. All sessions will be held at Jimmie Carroll Sports Complex, 540 E. Olden St. in West Plains.
“These camps have been very successful in the past, and our defensive camp is the only one like it in the area,” said Barr, a hall-of-fame coach for the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies and Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.
The defensive camp will run through Wednesday for students entering grades two through eight. Shooting camps will be held July 13 through 15 and July 20 through 22 for students entering first grade through high school.
Camp sessions will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for girls entering grades one through eight and from 10:30 a.m. to noon for boys entering grades one through eight. High school players may attend shooting camp sessions from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Grades are based on the 2026-27 school year.
The cost is $115 for one camp, $215 for two camps or $300 for all three camps.
