Baxter Health recently expanded its medical staff with the addition of four new providers across its specialty clinics in Mtn. Home, Ark., bringing new expertise in oncology, addiction medicine, gastroenterology and nephrology to the region.
Dr. Jamie Lee Aldakkour joined the medical staff in mid-August as a fellowship-trained medical oncologist and hematologist at Highlands Oncology on the Baxter Health campus. Board-certified in hematology and internal medicine, Aldakkour completed her fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport and her internal medicine residency at HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
Dr. Blake Copeland began seeing patients in early September at the Baxter Health Pain Clinic, where he focuses primarily on addiction medicine. Trained in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, Copeland has spent more than a decade practicing addiction medicine. His addition brings new treatment options to the clinic, including Sublocade, a once-monthly buprenorphine injection used to treat opioid use disorder.
Dr. Esosa Ukponmwan also joined the health system in early September, practicing at the Baxter Health Nephrology Clinic. Ukponmwan completed a nephrology fellowship at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center and an internal medicine residency at Michigan State University. He also holds a master’s degree in public health with a focus on epidemiology.
Kirsten Cotter, an advanced practice registered nurse, transitioned to the Baxter Health Gastroenterology Clinic on Sept. 8. Cotter is a familiar face at the hospital, having served as a registered nurse and charge nurse with the health system since 2001. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science in Nursing from Missouri State University in Springfield.
