WEST PLAINS, MO., Aug 5, 2026 — Slaughter cows and bulls were steady Wednesday compared to last week at Ozarks Regional Stockyard. Demand was moderate on a light supply of 433 head. ORS is currently taking consignments for Friday’s Special Cow Sale which will begin at 5 p.m.

• The top slaughter bull sold for $251/cwt.
• The top slaughter cow sold for $204/cwt.
• On the replacement side, the top pair sold for $4,500.
• The top bred cows sold for $4,200/head.
Pricing Averages Snapshot
• Breaker Cows (75-80% dressing): Averaged $179.56/cwt.
• Boner Cows (80-85% dressing): Averaged $175.90/cwt.
• Lean Cows (85-90% dressing): Averaged $164.13/cwt.
• Slaughter Bulls (Yield Grade 1-2): Averaged $215.49/cwt.
Weaned and vaccinated calves make positive gains
Compared to last week's light run, feeder steers and heifers were $15 to $20 higher. Following several weeks of lower prices, weaned and vaccinated calves made some positive gains. Demand was good on a light supply of 668 head. Receipts continue to be less than normal due to lower cash prices with heat and humidity being less of a contributing factor this week.

• The largest draft of the day was 20 head of 758 lb steers which sold for $356/cwt.
• Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs made up 35% of the live offering.

Heavy supply clears video auction with good demand
Demand was good on a heavy supply for the video auction held in conjunction with ORS' regular feeder cattle sale. Total receipts were 1,383 head reported sold. All cattle offered are in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. All deliveries are current through Sept. 5, with current deliveries representing cattle delivered up to 14 days from the video sale date (through Aug. 18).
