CBCO invites donors to sign up for 56-day challenge

Posted

Officials with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks invite potential blood donors to embrace the spirit of the new year by committing to positive changes in their lives: “Take a meaningful step by pledging to save lives through regular blood donations in 2024.”

One way to do that, officials propose, is to sign up for the CBCO’s 56-Day Challenge and commit to routinely giving blood in 2024. Participating donors also have the chance to win up to $56,000, they add.

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide all the blood for patients at Mercy Hospital St. Francis, Ozarks Healthcare and Texas County Memorial Hospital, as well as over 40 other healthcare facilities across the Ozarks.

Area residents will have the opportunity to donate during a blood drive to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Main St., Willow Springs.

In addition to being entered into a chance to win $56,000 for committing to donate regularly, successful donors at Friday’s event will receive a CBCO hoodie while supplies last, “perfect for the cold days ahead,” say organizers.

Those donors participating in the 56-Day Challenge will have a chance to win the top prize, to be disbursed in in VISA gift cards, thanks to a generous donation from the Adam Swenka Team at Flat Branch Home Loans and The Giving Branch. To participate in the 56-Day Challenge, donors must fill out the online commitment form by the Feb. 29 deadline. To fill out the commitment form, or for more information and official rules, go online to www.cbco.org/56day.

To help avoid wait times during Friday’s blood drive, appointments are strongly encouraged. Donors can schedule an appointment at www.cbco.org/donate-blood or by calling 417-227-5006.
