Dice Run touted as fun way to see the Ozarks

Posted

The Dice Run to the Mills, sponsored by Colton’s Steakhouse & Grill, is set for April 7 and is one of the “Party in the Path” events to celebrate the upcoming total solar eclipse in West Plains. There is a week’s worth of activities scheduled for the party, starting on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting and culminating with the eclipse itself on April 8.

Additional support for the dice run is provided by Roll Stop Sponsors: West Plains Propane, Mega Motorsports, West Plains Bank and Trust Company, Bartlett Moving & Storage and Turner Law Firm. West Plains Elks Lodge 2418 and West Plains AMVETS Post 98 are providing volunteer assistance for the dice run, with proceeds going to Christmas for Kids and area veterans.
“Dice runs are popular in the motorcycle community, and we certainly do hope two-wheel and three-wheel enthusiasts will join us for the dice run, but we also want everyone to know that all passenger vehicles are welcome to participate,” said City of West Plains Tourism Manager Melissa Wharton. “It’s a great way to tour some of our beautiful Ozarks scenery with turn-by-turn guidance, all while partaking in a fun way to help great charitable causes. You might even win a prize.”
The run will start with registration and the first roll stop, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the West Plains Civic Center east parking lot where the highest roll wins a prize. Other stops, in order, are at Twin Bridges Resort & RV Park, where the lowest roll wins a prize; Rockbridge Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch, where the highest roll wins prize; Hodgson Mill, where the lowest roll wins prize; Dawt Mill, where the highest roll wins prize; and finishing back at the civic center, where the lowest roll wins a prize.

For those unfamiliar with the rules of a dice run, five dice will be rolled at each of the six dice roll stops. Each player’s score will be recorded on their score card with prizes awarded to the winner of each stop as noted. The person who has the highest score from all six rolls will win $100 cash. As consolation prizes, $25 in Chamber Bucks, which are gift certificate to spend at West Plains Chamber of Commerce participating businesses, will be awarded to oldest participant, whether driver or passenger; youngest passenger; person who lives the farthest from West Plains; and person who has the lowest score from all six rolls.

The cost to participate is $15 per vehicle and includes two score cards. Participants can play as many cards as they wish, but each additional score card is $5.
