Commissioners to meet Monday
The Howell County Commission will conduct an open meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the conference room on the second floor of the Howell County Office Building, 35 Court Square.
The tentative agenda includes reviewing and amending a grant approving accounts payable and recognizing guests.
The commission typically meets each Monday and Thursday. The public is welcome.
Juneteenth holiday closures announced
Government offices at all levels will be closed Friday in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday. There will be no mail delivery, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol reminds the public that all driver examination stations will be closed.
The closures also extend to the Missouri State University-West Plains campus and the West Plains Public Library.
Normal operations for all offices, facilities and university classes will resume June 22.
Oregon County Republicans plan picnic
The Oregon County Republican Central Committee will host a picnic and meet-and-greet from 5 to 8 p.m. June 20, at the Alton City Park pavilion.
The event offers an opportunity for the public to meet with local and state officials and candidates running in the upcoming primary and general elections. Missouri Sen. Jason Bean, R-25, and State Rep. Keith Elliott, R-153, are scheduled to attend. There is no charge to attend, and picnic food will be served. The park is located off Highway 19 on Tucker Creek Road.
NARFE meeting set for June 23
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 695 of West Plains will meet at noon June 23 at Los Flores Mexican Restaurant, 1449 Preacher Roe Blvd. In West Plains.
Ruth Stevens, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will give a presentation on the Declaration of Independence. All active and retired federal employees and their spouses are invited to attend.
Lair family to hold reunion
The annual Lair Family Reunion will begin at 11 a.m. June 27 at the Moody Community Building, 2718 County Road 7820. A potluck meal will be served at noon.
All family members and friends are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring photographs and memories to share.
