The Prairie Farms Family of Companies, which operates the regional Hiland Dairy brand, has released a limited-edition ice cream flavor to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary and raise funds for military and first responder families.
The "Red, White & Boom" ice cream features a mix of strawberry, vanilla and blueberry flavors. According to the company, the new release also marks a step toward clean-label products by eliminating the use of artificial colors.
The seasonal release is tied to the company's ongoing partnership with Folds of Honor. Prairie Farms and Hiland Dairy have pledged to fund 50 academic scholarships, valued at $5,000 each, for the families of fallen or disabled military personnel and first responders.
“We are proud to honor our heroes, celebrate America’s 250th, and enhance our support of Folds of Honor and their mission,” Ryan Murphy, vice president of marketing and communication for Prairie Farms, said in the release.
The ice cream began rolling out to participating retailers in May. For more information regarding the scholarship pledge, visit hilanddairy.com/foh or prairiefarms.com/foh.
