Posted

All city, council and state government offices and buildings will be closed Monday for Christmas, and on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. This includes driver exam stations and license offices, the Howell County office building and courthouse, and West Plains City Hall and the public library. The U.S. Post office lobby will also be closed.

City Administrator Sam Anselm reminds those whose trash is normally picked up on Mondays will have their trash picked up on Tuesday for the next two weeks, because of the holiday.

The Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce will be closed Monday through Jan. 1, resuming normal hours of operation on Jan. 2.

Missouri State University-West Plains offices closed today for winter break and will reopen at 8 a.m. Jan. 4.

The Quill will also be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day, reopening the Tuesdays following for normal operations. Any obituaries meant for publication in the Dec. 30 Gazette must be submitted by 11 a.m. Dec. 28; the deadline to submit obituaries for this Saturday’s Gazette has already passed. Advertisements, including classified ads and legal notices, meant for publication in Wednesday’s Quill must be submitted and given final approval by the advertiser by 5 p.m. Friday. Likewise, any such ads intended to print Jan. 3 must by submitted and approved by the close of business Dec. 29.
