Lady Zizzers swimmers Autry, Fiorino sign to compete at collegiate level

Posted

Two West Plains High School seniors and Lady Zizzers swim team standouts have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.

Penelope Autry signed to swim for Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss., while Roslyn Fiorino committed to Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Ky. The dual signing ceremony was held April 28 at the high school.

"Both Penelope and Roslyn have been integral members of the Lady Zizzer swim team for the past four years," West Plains Head Coach Ryan Smith said.

He noted the duo helped secure four consecutive conference championships and four top-three finishes at the Southwest Missouri Championships.

Autry was a strong competitor in the 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, qualifying for the state championships individually in three of her seasons.

Fiorino excelled in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, along with the 100 backstroke. She leaves the program holding individual school records in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and she qualified for state all four years, earning multiple all-state honorable mention finishes.

"We wish them the best as they continue their swimming and academic journeys at the collegiate level," Smith said. "We know they will represent West Plains High School and Lady Zizzer swimming at the highest level."
