A conversation with a store clerk led a Missouri Lottery player to discover he won $3 million on a Mega Millions ticket.
The winning ticket for the Aug. 28 drawing was purchased at Signal Food Store, 513 N. Pine St. in Mtn. View. It matched all five white-ball numbers — 8, 17, 29, 42 and 55 — for a $1 million base prize. Because the ticket included a 3X multiplier, the winnings were instantly tripled.
“The clerk told me they had a big win,” the winner said in a news release. “He told me it was too big for them to cash and to check my numbers. I was in shock.”
The winner, whose identity is not publicized, added the reality didn't set in until he claimed his prize at the Lottery office.
