A project leader workshop for Operation Christmas Child is planned for 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at First Baptist Church, 807 E. 17th St. in Mtn. Grove.
Operation Christmas Child, a project coordinated by Samaritan’s Purse, collects shoebox gifts filled with school supplies, personal care items and toys for children in need around the world.
The workshop is open to church and group leaders interested in taking part in the shoebox gift project. Those who RSVP may reserve a carton of free shoeboxes for their church or group.
Local volunteers recently have been collecting notebooks, markers, pencils, personal care items and toys to fill shoebox gifts. National Collection Week is scheduled for Nov. 16 through 23.
