Ozarks Healthcare will observe American Heart Month in February with a series of free health screenings and educational dinners designed to combat cardiovascular disease in the region.
The initiative addresses findings from the health system’s Community Health Needs Assessment, which identified heart care as a priority due to local rates of obesity and high blood pressure.
Free heart risk screenings — including lipid panels, glucose tests, A1C and blood pressure checks — will be available by appointment Feb. 16 through 20 at OZH primary care locations in Alton, Gainesville, Mtn. Grove, Mtn. View, Thayer, Winona and West Plains. Additionally, screenings will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the main campus in West Plains.
The system will also host two free community dinners featuring interventional cardiologists. On Feb. 17, Dr. Muhammad Khan will speak at 5:30 p.m. in the Willard Hunter Classroom in West Plains, and on Feb. 27, Dr. A.K. George will speak at 11:30 a.m. at Woods Riverbend Restaurant in Mammoth Spring, Ark.
Reservations for the dinners are required and can be made by calling 417-257-6735. For more information, visit www.ozarkshealthcare.com.
