OZH offers free educational events, screenings for American Heart Month

Ozarks Healthcare will join nationwide efforts to observe of American Heart Month in February. With a focus on promoting heart health and preventing heart disease, the heath care system will offer a series of events to raise awareness and encourage proactive health measures.

Heart disease remains a leading health concern, but the good news is that early detection of risk factors and lifestyle changes can significantly reduce the risk, say hospital officials, adding that Ozarks Healthcare aims to provide valuable resources and opportunities for people to take charge of their heart health.

Community Education Luncheons

Two community education luncheons will be held, one in West Plains, and another in Mammoth Spring, Ark.

From noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 16, a luncheon served in the Magnolia Room on the second floor of the West Plains Civic Center, 110 St. Louis St., will feature guest speaker Dr. Hussain Ibrahim. Ibrahim, a board-certified interventional cardiologist, will discuss heart car.

From noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 23, a lunch featuring Dr. A.K. George as guest speaker will be served at Riverbend Restaurant, 80 Main St. in Mammoth Spring. George, a board-certified cardiologist, will also discuss heart care.

Heart Risk Screenings

Free heart risk screenings will be offered from Feb. 19 through 23 at Ozarks Healthcare Family Medicine locations.

All are invited to receive a complimentary heart health screening, which will include a lipid panel, glucose, A1C and blood pressure check. To schedule a screening, contact the respective Ozarks Healthcare Family Medicine location:
