The Ozarks Small Business Incubator has received 50% tax credits from the Missouri Department of Economic Development to help fund regional entrepreneurship initiatives and facility improvements.
The credits, available through Dec. 31, are part of the state's Small Business Incubator Tax Credit Program. The program allows the incubator to leverage local donations to support new business creation. Individuals and businesses with a Missouri tax liability are eligible to receive a 50% state tax credit for their contributions to the organization.
OzSBI uses the funds to expand outreach across Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright counties. Staff members travel the region to teach business classes, assist aspiring entrepreneurs with licensing and registration, and mentor existing business owners in finance, marketing and operations.
A portion of the funding also supports facility maintenance and improvements, allowing OzSBI to continue offering below-market rental rates to help startup entrepreneurs launch with fewer financial barriers.
“My husband and I are honored and humbled to share God’s blessings with the entrepreneurs and small businesses of our community by contributing to OzSBI,” said Cheri Combs, an OzSBI board member and supporter. “We have witnessed overall economic growth in the community as well as individual leadership growth in each person that has benefited by OzSBI teams’ passion, dedication and professionalism. The mentoring program, the workshops, the facilities and financing options offered by OzSBI provide practical guidance and continued assistance to the entrepreneurs, which is a great reflection of our investment.”
Those interested in making a donation through the tax credit program before the end of the year can contact OzSBI CEO Heather Fisher at 417-256-9724.
