The Ozarks Small Business Incubator will host a Lunch and Learn session, "Protecting Yourself From Identity Theft, Cybercrimes and Scams,” on June 24.

The event, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will teach attendees how to safeguard themselves against tactics used by hackers to steal personal identities and financial resources.

Davine Conover, a business development specialist at Ozark Federal Credit Union, will facilitate the session. During the workshop, participants will learn the differences and similarities between identity theft, cybercrimes and scams; how to recognize the strategies behind scams to prevent personal and financial loss; tools and daily habits to safeguard personal information; and steps to recover as a victim of identity theft, including the limitations of legal agencies when interactions occur through deceptive means.

“At Ozark Federal Credit Union, the heart of what we do is protecting our members and the communities we serve,” Conover said. “This workshop is designed to educate and empower individuals with practical, easy-to-use tools that can help prevent identity theft and scams before they happen."

Conover added that her goal is to help people understand that incorporating simple habits and using free, accessible resources can make a tremendous difference in keeping personal information and finances secure, especially during the high travel season.

Registration is $5 for OzSBI members and $15 for non-members. The cost includes lunch, which is sponsored by Ozark Federal Credit Union. For more information or to register, visit crm.ozsbi.com/events.
