Seasonal ales brewed with sweet potatoes and apples will pair with locally sourced German fare to welcome autumn at Piney River Brewing Company's annual Fall on the Farm celebration.
The free, family-friendly event is scheduled from 2 to 10 p.m. Oct. 3, at the BARn, the brewery's taproom located off Junction ZZ in Bucyrus, Texas County.
To mark the changing season, the brewery is releasing three featured fall beers. The lineup includes German Road Oktoberfest, the brewery's traditional fall seasonal, alongside two specialty brews: Sweet Potato Ale, which is inspired by sweet potato pie spices, and Apples in the Fall Ale, which is brewed with apple juice.
Piney River's regular tap list will also be available, including Black Walnut Wheat, Old Tom Porter and other lagers and ales. Non-alcoholic options include Andy's Root Beer, and Waves Cider will also be on hand.
For the food pairings, Freiheit Ranch of Bucyrus will serve local German cuisine through the day. The menu features charcuterie plates, spaetzle and grilled fresh sausages, with much of the pork sourced directly from pigs raised at the ranch.
"Fall on the Farm is family-friendly, and there is no charge for admission," owner Joleen Durham said. "We hope for a beautiful fall day of fun with all of our friends."
Live music kicks off at 2 p.m. with Stevie Newman, frontman for The Domino Kings, playing rock, country and blues. At 6 p.m., the Texas County band Chrome 45 will take the stage to perform rock and Americana covers.
Piney River Brewing operates on a 160-acre farm in south-central Missouri out of a restored 1940s barn and a larger production facility. For visitors seeking accommodations or more information, visit pineyriverbrewing.com.
